These are the rules for using Motorledger. They're written to be read. The parts that matter most: your records are yours, our service schedules are recommendations and your car is your responsibility, Pro renews until you cancel, and we'll be straight with you if something changes.
Motorledger is a car maintenance record. It reads receipts and documents you give it, files them by vehicle, estimates when services are due, and lets you export or share the history. It is available as a web app at motorledger.co and as an iOS app. By creating an account you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy.
You need to be at least 16 and able to enter a contract. One account per person; keep your sign-in email secure. You're responsible for what happens under your account. We can suspend accounts that break these terms or put other users at risk, and we'll tell you why.
Photos, records, notes, and anything else you add belong to you. You give us permission to store, process, and display them to run the service, including sending images to our AI processor to read them and showing them on a dossier page when you create one. We don't claim ownership and we don't use your content to train AI models. You can export or delete it at any time.
Only upload documents you have the right to share. Don't upload content that is illegal, that belongs to someone else without permission, or that contains another person's personal data beyond what's on an ordinary service receipt.
Motorledger reads receipts with AI and gets things wrong sometimes. Review what it extracts before you rely on it. Service intervals are labeled "recommended" because they're a baseline from published manufacturer schedules and general guidance, adjusted by your own edits; they are not advice from a mechanic and they don't know your car's actual condition. Decisions about when and whether to service, repair, or drive a vehicle are yours. Motorledger is a record, not an inspection.
When you create a public dossier link you choose what it shows and you can revoke it. You're responsible for who you give the link to and for anything the page says about the car. When you transfer a car's history to another person, the records you include become theirs to keep and share. Don't create a dossier for a car you don't own or have authority over.
Don't use Motorledger to misrepresent a vehicle's history, to scrape or copy the service, to interfere with other users, or to break the law. Don't try to access data that isn't yours. We'll close accounts that do.
We'll run the service with reasonable care, keep your data as described in the privacy policy, and give you a way to export it. Beyond that, Motorledger is provided as is. We don't guarantee it will be error-free or always available, and we aren't liable for the cost of a missed service, a repair, a sale that fell through, or any indirect loss arising from your use of it. Our total liability to you for anything connected with Motorledger is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don't allow these limits; where that's the case, they apply as far as the law permits.
You can delete your account any time. We can end or change the service with 60 days' notice, during which you can export everything; if we end Pro early, we refund the unused portion. Sections 4, 5, 8, and 10 survive termination.
These terms are governed by the laws of Texas. Disputes go to the state or federal courts in [Dallas County], Texas, unless the law where you live gives you the right to go to court at home. If part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between us about Motorledger.
If we change these terms in a way that affects you, we'll email you at least 14 days before the change applies. Continuing to use Motorledger after that date means you accept the new terms.
